&& How to use temp tatts as nail transfers.

Okay so chances are everybody and their dog knows about this and how to do it, but I wanna do something and was doing my nail so why not. You never know, there could be someone out there who finds this helpful. Plus since festival season is coming to an end the ever so popular temporary tattoos that were very over priced will be in sale. I know in Miss Selfridge they are, they are about £2 I think. Perks of my job I guess, also self promotion right there. Also can we just not look at my ugly ass index finger nail? Who know sorting through hangers at work could snap the damn thing off. I was a total girl about it so it’s now the ugly duckling of the group and in major time out. Okay so lets get into my first ever mini kinda pointless tutorial. Yay!

What you will need ;;

Okay so here is everything you will need for this, dead simple really. Any colour or branded nail varnish you want as your base. I’m using Essie’s Spin the bottle, it’s my go to nude colour which I’m loving right now. Again any base/top you want depending on what you like, mine’s just the Barry M one, you can never go wrong with Barry M nail varnishes, especially for the price. A nail varnish remover, no idea how old this bottle is but it’s the only thing I have, it does the job so that’s all that matters. Then of course scissors, a damp cotton pad and a cotton bud. Lastly your temporary tattoos, kinda pointless if you don’t have those. I got these ones free out of my June Birchbox, pretty sure every subscription box was getting rid of there’s in the June box. You can literally use any temp tatts you want, they all do the same thing.

Step one ;;

You can prep your nails first if you wish, I may do a different tutorial on that. Paint your nails with your base/top coat and let it dry. This doesn’t usually take too long. Then paint 1-3 coats of your nail polish depending of the quality of the polish. I tend to use 2 coats for lighter coloured Essie polishes, the darker ones I find can be done with only 1. Let it dry a bit then put on a base/top coat. Now you wait for a week for it to dry. Okay maybe not but that’s what it feels like to me. I’m the person who gets way to impatient for nails to dry, so I usually put Youtube on and watch the people I’m subscribed too for a bit as I let them dry. I was going to take pictures of me painting my nails but I think everyone knows how to do that. Also I do not have 3 arms unfortunately to take the photo so this will have to do. Currently accepting CVs for the job of photographer.

Step two ;;

tumblr_nrwo8l4Xtn1u9hodko5_1280Cut out your temporary tattoo and make sure it’s long enough to fit your nail, it sucks when it’s too short and you’ve wasted it. Again you can use kind of tattoo you want, it does not matter as long as you like it. Well this step is short. I’m dancing about to Jess Glynne Hold my hand if anyone is interested. Nope, yeah me neither.

Step three ;;

Press the tattoo down on thee desired nail and press it down making sure you press the corners down, especially if the tatt will cover the whole nail. My example is a poor one of pressing it down, again lacking the third arm that would seriously come in handy.

Combining steps here because it’s kinda pointless making a new one just for this. This is where you can make it or break it. Even the focus of my camera gave up at this point. Wish I had realised it was out of focus when I took it. Oh well you can the picture. Using the damp cotton pad press down again on the transfer. Make sure the pad isn’t soaked, only damp. Also try not to move the tattoo as you’re wetting it, I’ve found it can ruin it. Make sure you damp all the corners and get it everywhere. When you do start to feel it move a little remove the pad and gently lift the piece of paper off. If the tattoo is still stuck to the paper then gently place it back onto your nail in place and carry on pressing until it’s removed completely.

Step four ;;

Allow it to dry for a minute or so, I personally like to wait a bit. Not sure why I just feel like if I applied a top coat straight after it will rub it off. When you’re ready apply a base/top coat just to set it and make sure it’s not going anywhere and won’t just peel off. Then of course repeat for the nail on the other hand. That damn short nail!

And there we go, my first mini tutorial. Of course you can apply these to as many nails as you, get creative! I just wanted a subtle look so only have these on my ring fingers. I hope you liked this and I promise I will post more reviews once I get paid and can actually buy new products. I’m counting down the days to payday my friends, it’s kinda sad. Let me know what you think and I’ll see ya next time x
